A Beef with Metromix St. Louis…Literally

I have a beef, in the form of a prime rib buffet, with Metromix St. Louis.

On Saturday I’ll be in Forest Park to run the Go! St. Louis 5K. In hopes of catching a cool arts event or some live music that evening, I just went to metromix.com to look up April 18th events in St. Louis.

Metromix earns some credit for pulling together a central calendar of events of St. Louis nightlife, but really, Metromix? A Prime Rib Buffet as a Saturday night event in St. Louis?

Having grown up spending my weekends on my grandparents’ cattle farm (check out Grandpa’s 1952 Ford tractor), I’ve eaten my share of beef, but at the risk of sounding snobbish or untrue to my small town, cattle farm roots, I’m disappointed and embarrassed that a prime rib buffet made Metromix’s Saturday night “events” list.

Shame on you, Metromix.

  • I must agree with you on this one! When dinner out becomes an ‘event’, our poor City of St. Louis is in dire straits for events!!! Good grief!

I don’t know. I think a good steak is always worth an event listing. You could wear this shirt:

  • Our events calendar is not perfect. We’re constantly working to showcase the best events happening in the city. We spend a lot of time focusing on weekend events, since that’s when most of the events happen. We generally post the top weekend events to http://stlouis.metromix.com/weekend every Wednesday. Thanks for the feedback – like I said, we’re working to showcase the top events in the city, and a prime rib buffet certainly is not one of the top events – which is why it doesn’t make it into our “Metromix your weekend” section which I mentioned above.

  • Metromix works hard to post real events and I could imagine what a daunting task this is.

If something got noted for a weekend event which wasn’t the best choice, than lets at least give them credit for helping inform the community.

You never know…that Prime Rib Buffet could have made someones night!
