I attended my high school reunion more than a little apprehensive. A friend and I went together with plans to leave early, but much to my surprise we stayed the entire night and had a great time.
It was after the reunion, when I found myself playing shuffleboard in a smoky pool hall in small town, MO, that the real fun began. I couldn’t help but feel as if we were practicing for the competitive sports and games of our future retirement homes as we slid the heavy metal weights across the sand-covered shuffleboard table.
A little bit of beer, some old friends, and a senior citizen’s sport each contributed significantly to an unexpectedly fun high school reunion. Here’s to good times in small town dive bars.

Have you played at Dram Shop in Park Slope? They have a nice table.
It’s not a senior sport! I used to play on a West (St. Louis) County Busch – yes Busch beer – shuffleboard league!
