Luckily for Missourians, one of the world’s tallest rocking chairs calls our fair state its home.
This 42′ 4″ rocker sits only a few miles off of I-44 in Cuba, Missouri, so I made a small detour yesterday on my way home from Jefferson City to check it out.
My happy posture in the following photo is evidence of my excitement over the gigantic rocker (and of the immense pleasure I find in ridulously simple things):
On August 1st, the Cuba, Missouri Fire Department will bring a bucket truck to the giant rocker so that tourists can sit upon it. I may have to go back again on the 1st to take advantage of this quintessential small town girl photo opp.
The Route 66 Rocker is located on ZZ Highway, just west of Cuba, Missouri. The Rocker can be accessed by taking Exit 203 from Interstate 44.

Amazing. Something else that we never knew existed… That’s one big chair! Thanks for posting the photo
Oh my, this makes me want to come out there on the 1st.
Sometimes I wish I lived in Small Town, Missouri instead of the city. Lots of wonder and beauty there!
I ACTUALLY just went past that last weekend! We floated at Bass River Resort, and to my surprise Cuba is definitely home of the World’s Largest Rocking Chair.
We have to see follow up pics of you sitting in it. LOL
I had no clue! I used to float the upper Meramec and Huzzah Rivers and went through Cuba all the time … was trying to figure out how I missed it. But then I noticed on the stats sign it says it was erected 4-1-08 (so I wasn’t as oblivious as I thought
). Very cool find!
Did I ever tell you that Australia seemingly has an obsession with BIG things? I’ve seen the Big Banana, Big Prawn(shrimp), Big Lobster, Big Pineapple, Big Galah (an ozzie bird), Big Avocado, and Big Merino (sheep)
Wow that’s a big chair! You could fit several people on it.

Weird, because there’s another really large rocking chair somewhere between STL and Iron County on Blood Alley. We see it whenever we go camping at Council Bluffs. Two giant rocking chairs in one state?
@KBO – I think I know which rocking chair you’re talking about. There’s a large one (maybe 10 feet tall?) at the edge of someone’s front yard on that stretch of Highway 21 just north of Potosi, Missouri. The Cuba, MO rocking chair is a bit larger – a whopping 44 feet!
