I’ve written in the past about Cuba, Missouri, a central Missouri town with a population that just tops 3,000 people. Cuba is home to the World’s Largest Rocking Chair, which I blogged about in the Summer of 2009. As a fledgling runner and an explorer of all things small town Missouri, I was ecstatic to [...]
When I arrived at Absolutli Goosed on South Grand in St. Louis on Saturday night, my arrival was greeted with the cheers of more than a dozen women sitting on the bar’s patio, drinking colorful martinis and chatting emphatically.
Saturday night was a St. Louis ladies night tweetup – the second that I’m aware of taking [...]
Today is the St. Louis Association of Fundraising Professionals biennial conference, and I’ve been given the opportunity to present at the conference on social media and marketing special events. I’m thrilled not only to speak at the conference, but to be able to attend the conference, learning from other fantastic nonprofit professionals.
The first session I [...]
After four straight weeks of 6-day workweeks at my day job, I was due for an unplugged weekend. My boyfriend and I decided to escape into St. Joe State Park in Park Hills, Missouri to pitch our tent and hide in the woods for a day or two.
St. Joe State Park is one of the [...]
On Friday, May 14th, a dozen or so St. Louis-area tweeps gathered to inaugurate The Silver Ballroom, in its punk rock pinball glory, to the annals of St. Louis twitter history. I’m perpetually on the lookout for things about St. Louis that would surprise people. The Silver Ballroom certainly qualifies as a pleasant St. Louis surprise. [...]
On Friday, May 13th, we’ll be holding another great St. Louis-area tweet-up. As with almost any tweet-up I organize, no RSVP is necessary, and the more the merrier.
South City, St. Louis is one of my favorite parts of the city. Cool red brick homes, hipster bars, and a real neighborhood feel prevail. Of course, there’s the intermittent [...]
I spent 18 years living in rural Missouri as a kid and a teenager without every encountering poison ivy, oak or sumac. 2010 has earned its place in my year of “firsts” as the first year I’ve ever contracted poison [...]
Happy Cinco de Mayo from rural Southeast Missouri, where the nearest quesidillas and margaritas are twelve miles away.
On a recent trip to YMCA Trout Lodge in Potosi, Missouri, I had the pleasure of taking part in a Cowboy Campfire at the YMCA’s Triangle Y Ranch. Triangle Y Ranch has a mascot of sorts; a dummy [...]
Music is, without question, my first love. I loved music before I loved boys. I loved music before I had a best girl friend. I loved music before I came to terms with God. There nothing that comes closer to reflecting the depths of me than certain songs, albums, and artists.
Tonight a friend in New [...]
Today’s post is dedicated, once again, to notable bathrooms. Local Harvest, located in South City St. Louis, is a fantastic little cafe that offers spectacular local-produced foods. It’s also the only restaurant I’ve found in St. Louis that offers a vegetarian slinger (if you’re not from St. Louis, I’ll educate you on this diner-food-of-the-STL-gods).
Local Harvest [...]
