I haven’t owned a television since 1999, and I’m pretty content that way. Occasionally, however, something will be televised that I really do want to see. Last night’s State of the Union Address was one of those things. As a result, I paid my parents an overnight visit, borrowing their t.v. and enjoying breakfast with them [...] Tom Smugala, editor of Insider573 Magazine, contacted me in November to ask if I’d be interested in having Insider do a story about me, my return to Missouri, and A Small Town Girl’s Guide. I woke up so low and tired and grouchy yesterday morning that I was convinced I’d struggle with today’s GiST post. As the day went on yesterday, things gradually improved, and by the time the alarm went of this morning – as much as I didn’t want to get out from under the covers – [...] To date, I’ve not made public mention of my Missouri Bucket List; the list of things I’d like to do and places I’d like to see while I’m living in Missouri. On Sunday, January 16th, I ran my second half marathon. This time my race wasn’t in small town Missouri, but rather in big city Arizona. The P.F. Chang’s Rock ‘N Roll Arizona Half Marathon was held in Phoenix, Tempe and Mesa – a glorious part of the country to run in in mid-January. On my journey home from Wright City, Missouri last week, I was on the lookout for the kind of local hole-in-the-wall restaurant that would take courage to try out. With snow falling outside and Greg Brown music playing softly in my cabin, Rosie sleeps on my bed and I click “send” on the email containing my most recent magazine story. |
