Home Made Quiche

I baked my first homemade quiche tonight:

This feta-spinach-mushroom goodness was – believe it or not – relatively healthy! I’m a big fan of Spark People Recipes, a user-generated pool of searchable recipes that also includes nutritional information on each recipe.

This quiche had less than 200 calories per serving (1 serving – 1/8 of  total quiche), more than 7 grams of protein, and around 13 grams of fat. (Recipe Here)

The quiche recipe was fairly simple – mostly just whisking a few ingredients and sauteeing the vegetables:

The four-ingredient crust (water, oil, flour, salt) was also homemade, and it turned out wonderfully. This recipe was also supposed to be relatively healthy. (Recipe Here)

When’s the last time you made a meal entirely from scratch? If you haven’t made one yet in 2011, I challenge you to pick a recipe and try creating something all on your own. It’s creative, it’s fun, and it’s healthy, so what are you waiting for? Get cooking!
